Services to surf

On Sunday afternoon a group of senior members of the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club quickly gathered to celebrate two very special announcements that had just been made public.
The first was the award of the Medal of the Order of Australia to Noosa life member Ian Young for outstanding service to Australian surf lifesaving and the community.
The second was the award of life membership of the Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club to Noosa’s Lenore Grice.
Lenore, who holds dual membership of both Noosa and Maroochydore, is also a life member of Noosa.
A double life membership is very rare, but well deserved.
Noosa president Greg Cowie said: “This is indeed a great day for Noosa and the community.
“Congratulations to both.”
