THE Noosa Parkrun is off to a racing start with more than 216 runners from all over the coast taking part in the five kilometre family fun run since its launch in July.
Parkrun is a nation-wide weekly event where anyone can head along and join in the fun.
Event directors Kate Maybe and Sarah Deck said the Noosa Parkrun was already a great success, adding that the runners had completed 348 runs covering a total distance of 1740km, and there had been 65 new personal bests. Last week, there were 64 runners, of whom 28 were first timers and 15 recorded new personal bests.
Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed five-kilometre run for anyone who wants to take part. Families are more than welcome and participants of any fitness level can come and enjoy this fun form of exercise.
“Parkrun isn’t a race, it’s where you can get a time and come along each week to try and do a bit better,” Kate and Sarah said.
Noosa Parkrun is held at the Noosaville State School car park, corner of 75 Beckmans Road, Noosaville, every Saturday from 7am.
