More than a taste of art

The Taste of Art annual exhibition started from humble beginnings in 2012, and has grown over the years.
In 2012, a small exhibition for Friends of the Noosa Regional Gallery, titled ‘Taste of Art’, was held in a room on the Tewantin Marina, with the paintings restricted to 30 x 30 for 2D, and just a few 3D artworks.
The next year the group were given a small alcove at the Noosa Regional Gallery for their seemingly successful exhibition, the size still restricted to 30 x 30 for 2D, but the number of entries were growing.
There were more 3D artworks displayed at this time as well.
In 2014, the Noosa Gallery gave Friends one of the bigger spaces in the gallery, and the 2D artworks were allowed to be a little bigger.
Friends ‘Taste of Art’ now takes over the whole gallery, and in the last two years entries have numbered more than 100. The diverse talent of local artists from Noosa and the hinterland region has increased, and the exceptional standard of art has made it a desirable competition.
In 2018, the event will highlight talent across painting, mixed media, collage, ceramics, sculpturing or photography, and for the second year there will be an Emerging Artist Award of $1500.
Entries are now open and will close on 22 January. Entry fee is $30 and entrants must be a financial member of Friends Noosa Regional Gallery.
