Furry friends find families

By DARRYN SMITH

Poppy the Staffy cross pup didn’t have to work hard to bring a smile to the faces of Noosa locals at the Pet Stock National Adoption Day last Saturday.
Noosa Pet Stock was one of more than 100 Pet Stock stores throughout Australia that teamed up with 130 rescue groups to help find a forever home for their furry friends.
Noosa RSPCA manager Nicole Cleary was happy to bring along a selection of kittens and pups like Poppy who are all looking for a home and a second chance at love.
Nicole was also available for advice on how prospective adoptees may be able to help a pet in need.
“It’s a good opportunity to show we are doing adoptions in a different way,” she said.
“We can get out there in the community and show people shelters aren’t always sad places and also have a face in the community.”
Noosa Friends of the Hound vice-president Katrina Koutsellis was pleased to also be invited along to the National Adoption Day event.
“It’s an absolutely fantastic idea,” she said.
“It showcases the dogs and makes people think about adopting and not buying from a breeder.”
