THE Cooroy Pomona Lions Club is looking for community-minded locals to join their club.
Club president Robin Salmon said he could sum up in one sentence what it meant to be a Lion.
“You get a lot out of your community and sometimes you feel you have to give a bit back,” he said.
As an organisation, the Lions have been serving the community since 1972 by co-ordinating events such as the annual International Wimmer’s King of the Mountain race, as well as provide breakfast for students at the Noosa District High School Pomona campus every Tuesday morning.
Members of the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club also volunteer at the annual Christmas in Cooroy family event, hold monthly barbecues at the Pomona markets and cater for the Pomona and Cooroy school celebrations.
The Cooroy Pomona Lions Club meets at the Old Pomona Scout Den at the base of Mount Cooroora on the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm.
New members are very welcome and can phone David on 0414 833 509 for details.
