New home turns the tables

By BRUCE BLAKEMORE

AFTER 21 years with the Bicentennial hall as a base, the table tennis club has moved to the sporting hub of Noosa, the Noosa Leisure Centre at Wallace Estate.
With a larger floor area available the club has expanded table numbers to 10.
The club’s recent inaugural night session at the new venue had many members dust off the cobwebs after the summer break to test out the new arena.
Competition season is underway soon and the club is inviting any new players to join the group and challenge existing members, who will gladly welcome any newcomers.
All players are graded and allocated a handicap, which theoretically gives everyone an even chance.
Fixtures generally run for two to three months in a team format, with trophies awarded to winning teams as well as best graded individuals.
Apart from competition which is held on Wednesday nights the club holds social groups on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10am to noon with the emphasis on staying active while having fun in a social atmosphere.
Sundays from 1.30pm to 3.30pm is an open social/practice session with an opportunity to improve your skills with the club’s coach on hand together with the use of a training robot.
Please call 5474 5526 for any further information.
