Best swimmers awarded

By ALASDAIR SCOTT

THE CWA hall was the venue for the Eumundi Swim Club’s presentation night on Saturday 31 May.
‘Break-up’ nights often revolve around thanks, awards and reflections, so it was typical of Eumundi that the evening started with a Super Squad meeting, to look to the future.
Swimmers, parents and coach, Richard McLean, provided each other with interesting feedback about expectations and objectives.
The swimmers had some good ideas for next season and are eager to fulfil their personal ambitions and to act as role models for the younger children, as they target State Championships in December.
After everyone had enjoyed a banquet of curries and desserts, club president, Oddbjorn Ludvigsen outlined some statistics: club membership has grown by almost 30 per cent since last year; there were 18 club nights, with the girls clearly outdoing the boys in attendance and swim points!
Swimmers enjoyed competing in 27 carnivals around the Wide Bay region, developing friendships and healthy rivalries within and outside the club.
‘Lud’ thanked our sponsors for their continued support throughout the year: Eumundi and District Historical Association, Eumundi Village Pharmacy, Maquatics, Papa Costas, La Boucherie, Fruits of Noosa and the Eumundi Bakehouse.
While every swimmer received an award for their tremendous efforts during the season, there were special awards for Age Champion and Most Improved.
Results:
U7: Most improved – Lexi James, Cameron Smith. Age champ – Tora Honevsett, Chanar Marks.
U8: Most improved – Tahlee Hamilton, Wil Kruger. Age champ – Amali Scott, William Marks.
U9: Most improved – Kate Bridges, Billy Bowes. Age champ – Pippa James, Matthew Lewis.
U10: Most improved – Ella Honeysett. Age champ – Abbie Brook, Joden Lavis.
U11: Most improved – Chenoa Scott, Christopher Wnuczynski. Age champ – Tenaya Carmont, Troy Carlson.
U12: Most improved – Charlie Bowes. Age champ: Tess Davies, Pierce Ludvigsen.
U13: Most improved – Kylie Hewitt. Age champ – Elise Forward, Evan McLean.
U14: Age champ – Olivia Carlson, Zac Templeton.
U15: Age champ – Abby Templeton.
Coach’s Award: Abbie Brook, Ella Honeyset, Troy Carlson and Matthew Lewis.
The 2014 Eumundi Swim Club Champions were announced as Chenoa Scott and Matthew Lewis. Chenoa accumulated an incredible 181 points, including 37 personal bests. Matthew had 20 PBs and accumulated 113 points. Congratulations to them both on an outstanding achievement.
On behalf of all members, a big thankyou to Richard, Lud and his committee (Hayley, Rachael, Andrew, Malcolm and Carol) for a great evening and a fantastic season of fun and friendship. Looking forward to the club continuing to make a big splash in the Wide Bay pool next year.
