WORLD Sailor of the Year and Olympic gold medallist, Tom Slingsby is coming to Noosa to lend a hand at this year’s Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club annual Noosa Buoyed Up dinner.
Held on 26 July, the annual dinner supports the club’s Buoyed Up program that allows Indigenous and vulnerable children between the ages of seven and 12 to attend a five day camp where they can complete the Yachting Australia Tackers introduction sailing program along with other skills.
The five time World Laser champion is on deck to lend a hand to the NYRC fundraising efforts by sharing his thoughts on the Rio Olympics and the next America’s Cup defence.
Australian Sailing Magazine editor Roger McMillan will also speak on the night and share his thoughts on Australian sailing’s past, present and future.
Program patron and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural Affairs Glen Elmes praised the Buoyed Up program.
“I fully support and appreciate the commitment adopted by the NYRC to offer and deliver such a worthwhile program to indigenous and vulnerable children,” he said.
