Test of skills on show

The countdown to the Noosa Country Show is almost at an end with only one sleep left for show goers and volunteers keen for the popular country show to begin.
Five-year-old Amerie Hilliard loves walking around the show with her family and seeing “the huge cows” and entering competitions “to show everyone what I’m good at”.
Volunteer Davina Foster loves being part of a team that is able to pull together a great country show.
As a mother of boys she finds that the wood chop is a popular attraction and the whole family likes to stay late until the rodeo ends.
The Noosa Country Show on 15 and 16 September is packed full of activities which are set to please including Rooftop Express, the young farmer’s challenge and everyone’s favourite, the loveable Muttley’s Dog Parade.
The Rooftop Express, delivered by equine industry identity Dave Manchon, is a first-class arena show that promises good old-fashioned Aussie fun with amazing horse feats and cattle stunts and plenty of laughs.
The performance brings together horses, cattle, dogs, stockmen and women as well as trucks and utes in an action-packed event.
The young farmers’ challenge was first held last year and will return by popular demand.
Through a competitive but fun format, the next generation of farmers will join in teams of four to test their skills.
The Noosa Country Show will be celebrating 108 years this year.
A traditional country show, it aims to showcase the variety of agricultural industries within the region and through a variety of competition sections will help celebrate the diversity of people and the talents that live in our community.
The animal section includes equestrian, stud beef, dairy cattle and dogs sections.
The Pavilion brings together arts and craft, cookery horticulture and fruit and vegetable sections and is a must visit.
Entertainment will be run across two stages on Friday and Saturday at the Pomona Showgrounds and there will be rides and amusements delivered by the Showman’s Guild.
