Light shines on art in the open

INTERNATIONALLY renowned projection artist Craig Walsh will visit Noosa this month as part of the Environmental Art and Floating Land Forum.
The Orange-born artist, who now calls Tweed Heads home, will talk about his well-known face projections and his take on environmental art at the Environmental Art and Floating Land Forum to be held Saturday 17 October.
This free, day-long forum offers an opportunity to hear one of Australia’s premier projection artists talk about how his quirky and innovative projection artworks have taken him all over the world.
“From flooding restaurants with water and giant fish in Vietnam and Sydney’s Martin Place, to giants peering through warehouse doors, Craig’s work has fascinated both artists and passing audiences alike,” says Kerri Contini, Noosa Council’s Libraries and Galleries manager.

The Environmental Art and Floating Land Forum will host Craig among other speakers such as Guy Abrahams, founder of Climarte, Kevin Wilson, founder of Floating Land, and Natasha Edwards, co-founder of the Gold Coast’s well-known Swell Sculpture Festival.
The Forum will provide an opportunity for discussion and interaction, as the way forward for Floating Land is discussed in light of the national and international contexts of environmental art.
To book your place for the forum, which will be held at The J, from 9am to 5.30pm on Saturday 17 October, email floatingland@noosa.qld.gov.au or for more information visit www.noosa.qld.gov.au/floating-land-forum
The forum follows the successful Floating Land Festival for 2015, which culminated in a long weekend of fun activites for the whole family at the Boreen Point foreshore.
