Nutritionist and founder of Changing Habits, Cyndi O’Meara has been named in this year’s The Australian Financial Review and Westpac’s 100 Women of Influence Awards.
The awards are in their fifth year and have a cross-section of finalists including television personality Lisa Wilkinson, mining magnate Gina Rinehart and three-time Paralympic swimmer Ellie Cole.
Cyndi O’Meara is one of 12 finalists in the Business Enterprise category.
“It is very humbling and a real honour to be named one of the 100 Women of Influence in Australia. It is great to be recognised for my 30 years of nutritional experience and commitment to educating people to improve their health by eating real food,” Cyndi said.
Awards judge Paul Robertson said that many people tended to concentrate on negativity and problems.
“Here is a bunch of women who are extremely optimistic and throwing themselves into a massive amount of work to really make a difference,” Mr Robertson said.
Earlier this year, Cyndi O’Meara also won the Sustainable Business Woman of the Year 2016 awarded by Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network.
“As one of my tasks, I hope to spend this year making some inroads into the Sunshine Coast Council to ban the use of the herbicide glyphosate. Can a whole community, both council and private users make this happen? It would be a first in Australia and we could become leaders in doing this,” Cyndi said.
She recently launched a new Australian made documentary ‘What’s With Wheat?’ which spills the beans on the devastating effect wheat is having on our nation’s health.
The documentary highlights how the herbicide glyphosate is now used in modern agricultural practices of wheat growing which produced a highly addictive product, making people more susceptible to disease.
