Koala talk is over

PUBLIC consultation has closed for the new Koala Conservation Plan which is set to be adopted by Noosa Council next week.
In a report put before the Planning and Environment Committee on Tuesday (12 July), 41 submissions were received by council concerning a wide range of issues.
The report detailed domestic and wild dog control, enhanced protection, greater penalties for tree clearing and improved koala infrastructure as some of the most raised issues.
One submitter raised concerns over the use of schedule seven poison 1080 by council to control wild dogs, however the report states there will be no change to council’s current use of the poison.
The plan will also include information regarding the new Richard Branson Koala Conservancy and provide more information on utilising koala detection dogs prior to developments.
