Dos and dont’s to cut theft

By JONATHON HOWARD

AVOID becoming a target of theft this summer season by following some timely advice from Noosa police.
– Remove all valuables from the vehicle. If you must leave valuables in your vehicle, keep them out of sight.
– Do not leave personal documents in your vehicle as you risk your identity being stolen.
– After removing a GPS unit, use a cloth to remove suction marks on the windscreen.
– Make sure you lock your vehicle at all times, even when the vehicle is parked in your driveway or on your property. If you own a van, ensure any sliding doors are locked.
– Consider fitting a car alarm, immobiliser, ignition shield or other available security devices.
– Do not leave spare keys anywhere in the vehicle and ensure garage door openers are out of sight.
– Mark your property with a personal code or microdot.
– Etch the vehicle identification number onto the windows of your vehicle.
– Think smart and prepare to avoid becoming a victim of crime.
