A tech-savvy group of business owners from Noosa Junction have taken out first place at the BOQ Fin Tech Hackathon for their “Super” saving idea.
Business owners from co-working space Junction 2 and Coding at the Beach went to the hackathon where they were given the task of coming up with a business that would solve the complexities of superannuation for millennials.
The group originally wanted to attend the hackathon in Brisbane just as a “learning experience”, but their business idea Super Transparent won them first place, along with $5000 cash and a one-on-one with entrepreneur and investor on Channel 10’s Shark Tank, Steve Baxter.
The group was given 48 hours to come up with the business idea and Junction 2 co-owner Gary Swanepoel said Super Transparent seemed like the perfect solution.
“Millennials are the first generation to go through their entire working life with super, but they don’t know where their super is being invested,” he said.
“Super Transparent gives them control over their investments and helps them see where their super is going. It’s gives choice and there’s also a mobile app to encourage saving.”
The business was created within 48 hours and more than $7 million of superannuation was pledged to the business that is now in the process of being formerly created.
“Our win just shows Noosa is a perfectly fine place for young entrepreneurs to accomplish amazing things,” Gary said.
