THIRTEEN Commonwealth Games athletes returned home to a heroes’ welcome at the official Welcome Home Party held at the Maroochydore RSL, last Friday.
Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medalist and Hockeyroo star Jodie Kenny was on hand to greet fans, along with 200m medalist Taylor McKeown who also spent time with locals who turned up to congratulate the returned athletes.
Australia finished second on the medal tally behind England with an impressive 49 gold, 42 silver, and 46 bronze medals.
Attention now turns to preparation for the, much closer to home, 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
