THE sandcastle man Arron McCormick is back on Noosa Main Beach with his Noosa Council permit in hand.
Last Thursday Noosa Council issued a permit to the Mr McCormick, after it was revealed his permit application required some fine tuning.
Noosa Council said in a press release that it had offered a permit to Mr McCormick, who was operating a business on Noosa Main Beach.
“The permit will contain conditions which are common to other activities such as beach licences and busking,” the media release said.
Mayor Noel Playford said the permit would allow sand sculpting and receiving voluntary donations, but would not allow selling items or otherwise carrying on a business.
The council also said Mr McCormick would need to provide his own public liability insurance, just as everyone with a permit to use public land is required to do under state legislation.
Mr McCormick and his partner managed to raise the funds for the insurance, but when the couple visited Noosa Council on Monday they were told the permit had not yet be finalised.
Mayor Noel Playford said the permit took longer than usual to process.
“Mr McCormick didn’t provide the necessary details to process his application at first,” Cr Playford said.
“When he did, staff had to contact the insurance company that provides the buskers’ public liability policy held by council.”
Mr McCormick spoke with Noosa-based Austwide Insurance Brokers director Sarah Fisher, who found him the best price and policy.
He has now been issued the council permit and he’s back on Main Beach.
Mr McCormick said he wanted to thank everyone in the Noosa community who helped and supported him over the past five weeks.
