Calamity at high school

The Noosa District State High School musical production of Calamity Jane received great acclaim from the primary school students, parents and community members who came to see the show.
Calamity Jane was run over three nights from 7 August to 9 August and primary school students and the year eights from Noosa District SHS were treated to a matinee performance on Wednesday 6 August.
The production was a team effort with performing arts acting head of department Louize Lyle as the driving force behind the production, with the support of dance teacher Sharon Harris.
Both teachers spent many hours after school and over weekends with the student performers in coaching, directing and trouble-shooting scenes.
The Performing Arts department showcased their staff and students’ dancing, musical and acting abilities, with music teacher Deb Tunbridge designing the musical composition and coordinating a band comprising of students and a community band.
NDSHS teachers Alarna Priestly, Nicole Elphinstone, Nicole Koinuma and Mandy McGuire took on the sewing and design of costumes and props.
Ticket sales were organised by the Business Faculty, while Support Services head of department Tony-Leigh Sheridan manned the canteen which supplied food for the patrons.
The show was also a great success thanks to the efforts and support of the teacher aides, school janitor and cleaners.
All staff and students involved in the production of Calamity Jane are to be congratulated for such a magnificent and very professional high school musical.
