One Ella’f a long lunch

By JOLENE OGLE

RUGBY Union greats, the Ella brothers, lent a hand to help raise funds for young rugby talent development at the Noosa Dolphins’ Long Lunch.
The annual event was held on 9 May at the Dolphins’ clubhouse where guests could enjoy views of the club’s oval as well as a gourmet lunch and plenty of beer.
The Ella brothers, Mark, Glen and Gary, have all enjoyed stellar rugby careers with each brother representing Australia in international competition.
Despite his short career (1980-1984) Mark earned an induction into two Halls of Fame – the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Australian Rugby Union Hall of Fame in 2005.
While brother Glen was the Wallabies assistant coach during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa.
Locals were also on hand to help raise funds for the club, including Zinc 96.1 FM’s Al Doblo and Ash Gierke, Noosa Heads Surf Club president Greg Cowie and Noosa Today columnist Ron Lane.
