Noosa Dolphins Junior Rugby Union Round 3 match reports

Noosa Fins 45 drew U6 Noosa Reds 45
The game was fast paced in its entirety with both teams doing themselves proud. A generous and appreciative crowd lapped up the boys’ skills on show on Saturday.
Fins
Tries abounded, with firsts for the season from Jackson and Myles. There was also a try from Gus and two a piece from George, Brendan and Rory. Phoenix was on the ball with sheer determination while Julian and Noah were incredible in fighting support of the terrifying, hot stepping trio of George, Gus and Rory against some equally fast and furious Reds.

Reds
The younger members of both Noosa teams lead from the front with defence piercing darts from Jaxon, Noah and Manu. Conor, Jax and Darcy set a solid platform up front while Charlie, Harry and Zac capitalised on quality front foot ball with some ripper tries. Angus and Stirling again impressed with their leadership and positional awareness.

Noosa Whites 35 d Noosa Reds 30
Reds’ big men again tackled well with Will punching up going to ground and placing the ball for his speedy team mates to collect and go.
It was a tight game for the evenly matched Noosa teams, the local derby had the crowd going wild.
Remi was in everything going forward with the ball. Finnbar really pushed himself to get to players. Kaleb picked up some fringe ball and got away with fast runs forward and passed well. Byron got among it ripping the ball. A great fend to go to ground close to the line where Oscar picked up and scored. Oscar scored four with two close to the length of the field. James showed the goods with determined tackling and saved a sure try late in the game. Mack got us off the mark with a weaving try, then again late in the first.
Congratulations to courageous Joch, Domino’s Pizza Player of the Match, who played even though being under the weather.
Another Domino’s Pizza Player of the Match went to Louie Griffen.

USC 30 d Fins 0
Defence was the name of the game for the Fins and for most of the first half they held a strong USC scoreless, with powerful tackling from both side producing a captivating forward dominated game. But with tiring legs the gaps appeared and although the Fins continued to tackle valiantly, it wasn’t quite enough.

Noosa Blues 35 d Flinders 25
This was a great game played in good spirits. Noosa Blue players really worked for their mates with technical clean outs and some determined runs. Hammish, Oskar and Tex really got into the game. Joey defied the opposition and Jude worked like a Trojan all day. Pearl, Atticus, Hunter and Zay made the opposition work hard to bring them down. Atticus scored five tries and Jude was Domino’s Pizza Player of the Match.

Noosa Reds 19 d Noosa Fins 15
The two Noosa sides put on a great show for the watching impartial parents who will all know just how close this game was. Lachie Cole, Roko Knott and Ashton Hart were consistently resolute in many hard fought forward clashes, while Ethan Pohlner and Harrison McNamee linked up well in the back line several times. Ethan’s speed took him over for the Fin’s third try. Lachie Dudgeon proved his value once again with two tries.

Noosa 36 d Flinders 12
U13 Dolphins were motivated by an inspirational speech from Rugby royalty Mark and Gary Ella. The Ella brothers advocated the mateship and spirit of rugby. U13s have never beaten Matthew Flinders in seven years of competition. It was the traditional arm wrestle in the first half with Tom Payne and Liam Manssen keeping Noosa in the contest leading 14 to 12 at the break. The Noosa forwards led by Domino’s Pizza Player of the Match Luke Bourne set the platform for the second half and the team exploded with Ella Brother’s inspired rugby flair. Dolphins scored 22 unanswered points from Tom Payne, Harry Barnett and Tavita Roma. Max Cullen received the Sonny Payne’s Spirit of Rugby Award.

U14s
Dolphins 35 d Maroochydore 0
Strong performances by all players. Forwards worked well to dominate allowing the backs to run amok. Tries to Adam Jurisevic, Jesse Russell, John Gelling (2), Tom Seimon, Jack O’Connor and Sameet Raju.
