Witty speech at club lunch

By JORDAN CULLEN

Renowned author and playwright David Williamson entertained a crowd of club members and sponsors during a speech at the Noosa Tigers President’s lunch on Sunday.
Mr Williamson wrote satirical classic ‘The Club’, a 1980 play following Collingwood Football Club, as well as other well-known plays, movies and TV series including the movies Balibo and Phar Lap.
The multi award winner won the audience’s attention with witty remarks and flashbacks of fond memories.
Club president Scott McKenzie said the event was a great way to get the sponsors together, creating a tighter community.
“We have got some pretty big names this year coming, hopefully we can build on this year and hopefully it will be even better next year,” he said.
The lunch was followed by Tigers v Mayne, with the Tigers going down in a final-quarter slump 10.5.65 to 15.8.98 after what was an overall tight game.
Both teams had been undefeated this year.
