Happy high hopes

By Hollie Harris

A POP folk fanfare of toe-tapping melodies, soaring harmonies and happy high hopes is the joy-evoking sound that Brisbane band, The Counterfeit Umbrellas bring to the stages and ears they grace.
Since making their debut on the Australian live music scene in 2014, this band has made quite the name for themselves, gracing stages all over South East Queensland and having their music spun on radio stations across the nation.
Selected by Sony Music and the Westfield Group as winners of Westfield’s Sound Search competition in 2015 they have gone on to play alongside some of the country’s finest acts including Cat Empire, Guy Sebastian, Busby Marou, Ash Grunwald, The Beautiful Girls and Birds of Tokyo.
Some of these hugely popular events include Caloundra Music Festival, Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and Brisbane’s famous Caxton Street Festival and a debut TV appearance on NITV’s League Nation Live earlier this year.
Their hotly-anticipated debut self-titled EP includes the critically-acclaimed singles ‘Hold Back the Sun’ and ‘Your Man.’
The album is the result of several months of writing and recording in the studio with ARIA-nominated producer Stuart Stuart.
They have just performed at Red Deer Festival in Mt Samson and will be making their way to the Sunshine Coast to headline Cooroy Originals on 27 November.
