LADIES Championship ‘Singles’ Semi Finalists: Pam Styles v Jennie Smith and Jennie Lonie v Sue Mould to be played on Thursday 16 April.
Easter ‘Open’ Pairs: winners were Tony McAnelly and Daphne Reed; second were Van and Peter Vignon; third were Heather and Daryl Birt.
Saturday ‘Jackpot Pairs’ and Triples will commence on Saturday 25 April.
Tuesday Ladies ‘Club Selected’ Pairs: winners were Sue Gray and Maggie Brown. Runners-up were Carol Blake and Jeanette Emery. Wednesday Men’s Pairs: winners were Sno Jocelyn and Jim McDonald (2+ 31). Runners-up were Peter Duxfield and Nev Jones (1+18). The jackpot of $350.50 was not won. Thursday Night’s Twilight (6-9) Open Pairs: winners were Nev Jones and Eric Bolesworth. Runners-up were Jennie Lonie and Lindsay Barker. Please note that Twilight finishes on the 16 April.
‘Friendly Friday’ Open Triples: winners were Gary Bond, Kath and Bryan Simmons. Runners-up were Dot Imber, Carolyn Pulham and Joan Pyers. Jackpot of $44 was won by Teams Ivanusec and Gray.

POMONA BOWLS
WEDNESDAY Neilson’s sponsored two bowl triples – due to uneven numbers there were triples and pairs played. Winners of the day were Jeanne Price and Veronis O’Connor with runners-up Sharon Foale, Olive MacKellar and Gaye Bible.
Thursday Men’s social game was enjoyed by the few fellows who took to the green. Don’t forget to put your name down for next Thursday.
Friday Twilight Bowls was a great success with a full green of happy bowlers. Winners were Sharon Foale and Patrick Gray-Spence with runners-up Glenn Patterson and Daryl Millar. Bon voyage to the Millers who are off to cruise the Panama Canal. Jackpot not won and carries over to next Friday.
Saturday Men’s Championship Pairs: Round 1 results – Norm Walmsley and Rick Goulding defeated John Davies and Garry Mitchell; Don Mallett and Russell Murray defeated Lester Krosch and Lorry Axiak; due to illness Curly Greig and Keith Muir forfeited their game against Sam Hands and Bob Andrews; Walter Horn and Mel Hobbins defeated Jim O’Donnell and Charlie Dewhirst.
Round 2 results : Norm Walmsley and Rick Goulding defeated Don Mallett and Russell Murray while Sam Hands and Bob Andrews defeated Walter Horn and Mel Hobbins.
Final of Pairs Championships will be played on Saturday 18 April.
On Sunday Pomona hosted QRI Gympie for an enjoyable afternoon of bowling. Happy to report the winners of the day were the Pomona team of Desley O’Neill, Judy Muir, Des Quinn and Walter Horn. Runners-up were Ruth Kelliher (Pomona), J. Stoper and N. Dowling (both QRI).
Congratulations to our Pomona lady bowlers who played with the Noosa Heads ladies in the Bronze Division Super Challenge. The team made it through to the finals and were only defeated by a small margin. Well done!

NOOSA HEADS BOWLS CLUB
EARLY rounds of the men’s pairs championships were played on the weekend and the finalists have been decided. Bob King and David Deane will battle it out with Alan Pearson and John Boyle in this week’s final.
The biggest surprise was the bundling out of reigning champs Shane Burke and Ross Ward by Paul Rieck and Graeme Yeoman in the first round.
Greg Dale and Troy Rowley took the main prize in the April Noosa 1500 Open Pairs event with runners-up going to Marilyn Clayton and Brenda Balchin.
Winners of the first-round losers section were Joan Foster and Jenny Belchin. This series started in early 2013 and the monthly capacity fields have shown this contest to be a real winner.
With the closing of Noosa Heads Bowls Club the 1500 will be staged at Tewantin from June onwards, and they already have some 40 teams entered.
Last Tuesday’s men’s pairs winners were Danny Crameri and Bob Heir. Ladies’ triples winners on Wednesday were Marie McCall, Sharyn Briggs and Judy Lord.
Paul Rieck and Patricia Parker won the Friday Jackpot Pairs, with Alan Pearson and Andrew McCall taking the first-round losers prize. Saturday winners were Ray Day, Eileen McDonald and Beryl Nelson.
Our annual Golden Bowl fun night proved a great success on Saturday with more than 80 bowlers and supporters turning out for some wining and dining, and a lot of laughs. This year’s Silver Bowl was awarded to Debbie Austin with everyone’s favourite greenkeeper Ross Ward taking the Golden. Ross also announced a special all-time award to Garyth Williams.
Great to see that the future of lawn bowls is in good, young, hands with the Queensland under-15 and under-18 state championships being conducted in Bundaberg during this past week. – The Chalker
