Choice of champions

MAY is set to be a busy month for Bowls Queensland with a number of competitions planned in the lead up to the Australian Open in June.
The women’s and men’s district sides competition will take place from Sunday 3 May to Wednesday 6 May at venues across the state, including Tewantin Noosa Bowls Club, Coolum Beach Bowls Club and Pacific Paradise Bowls Club.
The state women’s and man’s championships for singles, pairs, triples and fours will be held from 8-20 May at venues yet to be announced, followed by the Queensland indoor qualifying round for women to be held at Tweed Heads and Paradise Point Bowls Clubs.
In June, the Australian Open gets underway from 13 to 25 June at the Gold Coast, while the Queensland versus NSW under-18 boys and girls test series will kick off on 29 June at a venue in NSW to be announced.
The Australian youth championships will showcase the up-and-coming players and will take place at Tweed Heads on 24 August, while the Commonwealth Youth Games will be the highlight of the year and is set to take place in Samoa from 5 to 12 September.
