AKIN to a rockstar welcome, Prime Minister Tony Abbott was mobbed by locals when he came to Noosa Main Beach last Thursday.
Stopping to pose for many selfies with locals, Mr Abbott was described by those who met him as polite and patient, willing to stop and chat at any time.
Mr Abbott was in Noosa to have lunch with long-time supporter Deputy Prime Minister and Wide Bay MP Warren Truss.
It was a whirlwind visit from the top man who stopped in to local restaurant Sirocco, Noosaville, to grab a takeaway coffee and pose for photos, before heading in to Noosa Heads.
Noosa Today columnist and Noosa Heads Surf Club life member Ron Lane and the club’s first female life member and Hall of Fame nominee Lenore Grice were invited to meet with Mr Abbott for a beer on the club’s balcony.
Ron said Mr Abbott was easy to talk to and was happy to chat about his time as a lifesaver and about when he completed his bronze medallion.
“He was very nice,” Ron said.
“He was very easy to talk to and he was having a laugh about the members of his club.”
