Works in council’s sights

GIBSON Road and Cooroy-Noosa Road are in council’s sights as it revs up delivery of this year’s remaining capital works projects.
Gibson Road will gain cycling and pedestrian safety improvements and a full road reseal in a $744,000 project now underway, with asphalt work programmed from 20 April.
Work on Cooroy-Noosa Road at the St Andrews Drive intersection will begin from mid-May involving road resurfacing, new on-road cycleways and footpaths.
They’re among more than 100 projects either underway, shovel-ready, or soon to begin as part of this year’s capital works program.
Council has already delivered more than 30 projects totalling approximately $6 million and Noosa Mayor Noel Playford says there is more to come.
“Now we’ve caught up on planning and design work, residents can expect to see lots of activity across the shire over the next three months as we continue to accelerate our works program,“ Mayor Playford said.
Other projects commencing this month include an upgrade of Noosaville’s Pirate Playground and stormwater pipe relining at Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, and Ben Lexcen Drive, Sunrise Beach.
New lighting will be installed at the Noosa Transit Centre, and an upgrade of the pathway adjacent the Noosa River at the RSL park at Tewantin will also begin.
Completed or near-completed capital works include the recently finished Beach Access 35 at Sunshine Beach; the Cooroy-Noosa Rd/Beckmans Rd intersection improvements, the demolition of the former Peregian Beach bowls club, and the renewal of the botanical gardens park furniture.
