NOOSA’S business community and an X Factor finalist are organising a special river cruise next month to help Petra Geitl and her son Jack buy a suitable disability access vehicle.
Eight-year-old Jack was born with cerebral palsy and although he enjoys a happy lifestyle, transporting him to his weekly activities can be challenging for Petra.
Jack has captured the hearts of many Noosa residents and the family is calling for some assistance to afford the disability vehicle.
“We attend more than 15 different activities for Jack every week as well as Jack attending school,” she said.
The latest fund-raising initiative is a sunset cruise organised by Noosa River and Canal Cruises.
The cruise has also prompted a number of other businesses to support the family appeal and X Factor 2010 finalist Andrew Lawson has also signed up as the performer onboard the cruise.
Noosa River and Canal Cruises owners Kym and Gary Logan said they had seen the appeal to help Petra and Jack in Noosa Today and wanted to come up with an innovative fund-raising idea.
Elegant Eggplant owners James and Mimi Zaraza on Gympie Terrace have also thrown their support behind the cruise by providing a range of delicious canapes.
Andrew Grennan and John Whimpress, owners of Jack Cellars, have kindly contributed wine and sparkling.
They are now calling on the community to get behind Petra and Jack by purchasing a ticket.
The sunset cruise will take place on Thursday 20 November at a cost of $60 per person which includes food, alcohol and a 1.5-hour cruise around the Noosa River.
Businesses are also being encouraged to get onboard with the fund-raising initiative by contributing to the cruise package or directly to the Geitl family.
