Originals in full swing

THE Originals concerts are back in full swing with summer weather well and truly here. The free, live music continues next weekend, with the Cooroy Originals on 26 October.
Event organiser, Marcus Plukhahn, of East Coast Originals said the community concerts were only getting bigger, with more and more families getting along to enjoy a day in the sunshine listening to live music.
The Cooroy Originals are held at Apex Park, from 1pm on 26 October, and will feature an impressive line-up of long-time local acts as well as some fresh faces on the music scene.
Flying the long-time flag is Barry Charles, who has performed throughout the region since the ’70s, developing a large fan base who praise his unique voice that can change between deep lows to high notes. Barry will be joined by his band, The Deeper Beat.
Sunshine Coast resident blues and roots success story, Carl Wockner, will also perform, fresh from recording his latest album, Crayon Days, in Nashville.
Keeping with the blues and roots theme, coast-based duo the Cleveland Blues will showcase their dirty swamp rock blues tunes.
And, new to the scene, but well-versed in performing, is Olivia Ruth, who delivers sassy, raw vocals accompanied by her guitar and stompbox.
The Cooroy Originals is a free community event, but donations are welcomed to ensure the running of future events.
The next Cooroy Originals is 26 October, from 1pm, at Apex Park, Cooroy.
