Tigers celebrate stellar season

THE Noosa Tigers AFL team has celebrated the end of a stellar season with a presentation night at the Boathouse, Noosa, last Sunday.
Noosa Tigers club president Scott McKenzie said the night was the perfect way to congratulate the team on a “very positive year”.
“Someone asked me at the start of the season, where did I think the team would end up and I said at least the top five,” he said.
“For the team to finish as runner-up, that’s great. A very positive result.”
The highlight of the presentation night included Peter Thynne, who won the Club Person of the Year award for organising a number of successful President Lunches that helped raise funds for the club, as well as his continual volunteering efforts throughout the year.
Other awards included, Louis Bouchier who took out the U18s Best Teamman award, Corey Broadman who won the U18s Best and Fairest Award, and Cody Carr who won the U16s Coach Award.
For the seniors, Harry Opie was awarded the Seniors Coach Award, Jed Mullen and Shane Davis won the award for Most Consistent, Lou Fary won the Reserves Best and Fairest award, David Welch took out the Seniors Best and Fairest award, and Ian O’Dwyer was awarded the John Bain Memorial Trophy.
Scott said the team couldn’t have done it without the support of family and friends who turned out to watch the games, as well as the sponsors who help throughout the season.
But, with the season wrapping up only weeks ago, the management and coaching team are already on the lookout for players and sponsors for the 2015 season.
“We’re already starting to recruit and get the word out there that we are looking for players,” Scott said.
