Go in to bat for charity

Whoever said local councils were boring has never seen two mayoral candidates go head-to-head with the third candidate calling the shots in a fast-paced, action-packed game of sports.
In a game of cricket, which is set to be more exciting than the Ashes, mayoral candidates Tony Wellington and Sandy Bolton will captain rival teams while mayoral candidate Ray Kelly will ensure everyone toes the line as the referee.
The charity game is part of the Pink Stumps Day initiative which aims to raise much-needed funds for the McGrath Foundation.
The two teams will be made up of community members plus current councillors Joe Jurisevic and Frank Pardon and council candidate Steven Boyd with all the action being relayed by local dad commentators Chris Fuller and Scott Cairns.
To get in on the action visitors can don their baggy pinks, grab their pink pom poms and head to the Kin Kin Oval on Saturday 20 February at 2.30pm.
They can also stick around after the game and enjoy a buffet dinner and live music at the Kin Kin General Store with proceeds going towards the charity.
Book seats by phoning the store on 5485 4177.
