A feast of food

THE much anticipated Noosa Food and Wine 2016 is finally here, kicking off this weekend from 20 to 22 May.
There is a host of amazing events on offer for the avid foodie from the Noosa Street Feast long lunch on Saturday to the You’re Better on Beef barbecue party hosted by Noosa Boathouse at the Noosaville Lions Park on Sunday.
Restaurants from Peregian, Sunshine Beach, Tewantin, Noosaville and Hastings Street will also host some of Australia’s best chefs for signature lunches and dinners over the weekend.
The majority of events have sold out but there is still plenty of ways to enjoy Noosa Food and Wine 2016 with some events still available including some great free events such as Rococo’s Spanish Quarter.

Spanish Quarter
Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Hastings Street
Cost: Free
With free entry, the Spanish Quarter is open from 3pm to 9pm on Friday and 11am to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The Spanish Quarter, including Rococo is an exuberant, enticing on-street gathering point at the entry to Hastings Street.
There will be a colourful, carnival like atmosphere recreating the life and vitality at the heart of a Spanish village where the community can gather to enjoy Spanish wines and culinary samplings, a paella kitchen, local and Spanish cheeses, produce and small goods.
Bring your dancing shoes because there will also be soft flamenco, Latino sounds and Latin jazz throughout the day, plus cooking demonstrations from Matt Golinski and an appearance from this year’s MKR TV show contestants Gareth and Alex.

Flava at the Noosa Junction Twilight Market
Friday 5pm-9pm
Noosa Junction
Cost: Free
Here is your chance to sample a little local “flava” at the Noosa Junction Twilight Market on Friday from 5 to 9pm. There will be something for everyone with a focus on local artists and artisan stalls, laid back music and the flava bar so you can enjoy the village vibe of fun, folk and fashion. Entry to the markets is free.

Up Close and Personal with Pete Evans
Saturday 10am to noon
The J Theatre, Noosa Drive, Noosa Junction
Cost: $95 per person
Following on from his success on MKR, celebrity chef and author Pete Evans will host a breakfast and discussion on “The Paleo Way” at The J Theatre on Saturday from 10am to noon. Enjoy a Pete Evans breakfast muffin and Raw C coconut water before joining Pete for an insightful discussion on the Paleo Way. Guests will also receive Pete’s 10-week activation program, The Paleo Way, valued at $149 included in the ticket price of $95 per person.

Wine Tasting Quarter at Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa
Saturday noon-5pm
Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa, Hastings Street, Noosa Heads
Cost: Entry is free
With free entry, wine lovers can enjoy an afternoon of delicious tastings from noon to 5pm on Saturday. There will be wine tastings from 22 of Australia’s best wineries with tokens only $3 for three tastings or $6 for six tastings or a glass.

Cooking Demonstrations
Sunday 8am-11am
Noosa Farmers Markets, Weyba Road, Noosaville
Cost: Free
Enjoy a morning at the famous Noosa Farmers Market where a selection of local and visiting chefs will meet the producers, growers and farmers and showcase their produce with live cooking demonstrations between 8am and 10am.

You’re Better on Beef barbecue party
Sunday 11.30am to 4.30pm
Noosaville Lions Park, Gympie Terrace, Noosaville
Cost: Entry is $15 pre-purchase or $25 at the gate
The Noosa River foreshore will come to life when Noosa Boathouse presents a celebration of Australian beef and live music from Sunshine Coast music legend Carl Wockner and powerhouse band Honey.
Renowned chefs Matt Golinski, Alastair McLeod, Sunny Gilbert and Shane Bailey with Sammy and Bella from MKR will serve up their favourite sirloin dishes along with Stone and Wood craft beers and selected great Australian wines from Dal Zotto and Sirromet. Food and drink tickets are available to purchase at $8 each.
The chefs will serve six different dishes such as Japanese soba noodle salad, Kimberley red Thai beef salad, Pincho Spanish beef skewers, plus pulled beef brisket burgers, and beef skewers.
