Fitness funds for chemotherapy

Peak Personal Fitness helped raise over $1000 for local mum Roz Harper and her fight against cancer.

THE generosity and support of the community was in full force over the weekend as over $1000 was raised for Tewantin mum-of-three Roz Harper, who is battling a rare form of brain cancer.
Peak Personal Fitness owner Rob McPherson took the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Roz’s second round of chemotherapy while launching his new group fitness program, Noosa HIIT Squad, on Saturday (7 May).
Participants could take part in one of six 30-minute group exercise classes for a gold coin donation, with all donations collected on the day matched dollar for dollar by Peak Personal Fitness.
To help boost fund-raising, a sausage sizzle, cupcake stall, fresh produce stall, face and henna painting, and a mobile coffee van also raised additional funds for the Roz Harper Brain Cancer Fund.
Rob said he was “blown away” by the generosity of locals and said the group raised $1077 for Roz and her family.
“It is important to me that I use my business to give back to our community where possible,” Rob said.
“I am grateful that we have been able to help out Roz and her family during this difficult and challenging time.”
Roz was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in 2009, and surgery has been unable to remove the entire tumour which continues to grow. Roz and her family are now carrying the burden of a second round of intensive chemotherapy to battle the cancer.
Rob said he wanted to thank everyone who helped with the event, especially Don Bensted from the Tewantin-Noosa Cricket Club and to businesses that made donations including Woolworths Noosaville, Noosaville Bakery and Cafe, On the Go Espresso, Dan Murphy’s Noosaville and the Noosa Christian Outreach Church Food Outlet.
