NOOSA is home to a thriving art scene and a group of locals are working hard to share this with the nation with the announcement of the Noosa Open Studios event planned for August next year.
The Noosa Open Studios art trail will bring together local painters, ceramic artists, sculptors and everyone in between for a weekend of studio tours, workshops and so much more.
While the event is yet to be formally launched, event organisers are calling for expressions of interest from artists who would like to take part in the showcasing of their works to the wider community.
The organising committee is made up of well-known members of the art community such as Trish Bradford, Gabi Dick, Ellen Appleby and Dave Gilbert, plus Noosa newcomers Jenny Hines and Barbara Hamilton, and Chris Pritchard who offers years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry.
Many of the committee boast extensive experience in co-ordinating open studio events and managing the financial and marketing aspects of large-scale events.
Noosa Open Studios organising committee chair Chris Pritchard said one of Noosa’s most attractive qualities was its “robust quality arts sector”.
“The Noosa Regional Gallery and other galleries are very supportive of local artists and artisans,” she said.
“The Noosa Open Studios event in August 2016 builds on that and provides attendees a unique ‘fly on the wall’ experience to personally visit artists, sculptors, ceramicists and weavers in their own studios to not only view their completed works but also observe them in their moment of artistic creation.”
The Noosa Open Studios event is planned to run from Friday 19 August to Sunday 21 August, 2016.
The committee has sent out an expression of interest application forms to artists on their database, but anyone who would like further information or to apply to be a part of the event can email trishincastaways@gmail.com.
