Businesses line up for green edge

By JOLENE OGLE

SOME 17 local business leaders gathered at Peppers Resort to learn how to save money and the environment as part of the Noosa Eco Check program on Tuesday 17 November.
Developed by Tourism Noosa as the sequel to their already successful Welcome To Noosa course, Noosa Eco Check is designed to help local businesses develop environmentally-sound operating practices.
Local business leaders such as Phil Moran from Landcare, Anton Mogg from Noosa Heads Surf Club, Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa GM Stephen Ferrigno and Kirsty Patten of Malu Os, gathered to learn more about the online, interactive Noosa Eco Check course as well as how to encourage other businesses to take part.
The course suggests low and no-cost key actions that every business and their team can easily follow to help reduce their impact on the environment.
Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham said Noosa Eco Check is a business tool to not only save money but help the environment as well, with over 70 people already completing the course.
The online course covers topics such as energy and water consumption, as well as developing sustainable gardens, corporate social responsibility and the importance of conservation and communication.
Local businesses leading the way, such as Malu Os, Flashpackers Noosa and The Discovery Group, are used as case studies to highlight how environmentally-friendly practices can easily be implemented.
