Tourists on Andy Phipps’ (Phippsy) Smooth Water Charters were treated to an unexpected wildlife encounter last week when a kangaroo swam past the boat off Makepeace Island in the Noosa River and it happened just after they’d hooked a bull shark.
Andy said once up river from the Noosa North Shore ferry crossing wildlife was abundant and it was not uncommon to see kangaroos, wallabies and even wild pigs swimming across the river.
“I see them every day. There are plenty of kangaroos. One day I was a koala sitting in a mangrove tree.”
