THE Noosa community celebrated International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) with a colourful picnic and the raising of a rainbow flag.
IDAHOT is a global day aimed at drawing people’s attention to the discrimination faced by same sex attracted, intersex, and gender diverse people and celebrates sexual and gender diversity.
Councillor Ingrid Jackson took to Facebook to show her support of the day posting a photo of herself with fellow councillor Frank Wilkie.
“Today, on Tuesday 17 May, Noosa Council is flying a rainbow flag in support of IDAHOT.
“Councillors agreed that Noosa is a place where everyone, regardless of ethnic and cultural differences, age, gender, ability or sexuality can feel included and valued,” Cr Jackson said.
“Noosa joins Brisbane City Council and places around the world in embracing diversity in this way.”
