Raelean is the people’s choice

Artist Raelean Hall has won Noosa Regional Gallery’s People’s Choice in this year’s Noosa Art Award for her painting Control Burn – Teewah.
Well known for beautiful dedications of Sunshine Coast landscapes, the Sunshine Coast-based artist has won a $1000 cash prize sponsored by Friends Noosa Regional Gallery.
Councillor Ingrid Jackson presented the prize at a special function hosted by Friends Noosa Regional Gallery.
Through her artwork, Hall shares her love of the delicate beauty of Noosa’s north shore coastal vegetation and highlights how the dunes are constantly under repair and reconstruction.
“With a call back to nature and childhood memories, Raelean breaks from tradition by including fairy-tale characters in her seascapes,” Noosa Regional Gallery Director Nina Shadforth said.
“In her winning painting, she places Little Red Riding Hood nonchalantly covering her tracks to emphasise the delicate balance of nature between contrasting beauty and decay and regrowth.”
The 2016 Noosa Art Award and the Lyn McCrea Memorial Drawing Prize exhibitions close on Sunday 26 June with all works selected from an excellent field of entries received this year.
“This is an exhibition not to be missed,” Ms Shadforth said.
