NOOSA mother of two Shannon Ichikawa said she recently noticed Noosa Today running stories from local mums calling for a birthing centre to be built at Noosa Hospital.
Mrs Ichikawa said she had both her children at Buderim Hospital, which she believes was too far for expectant mums to travel.
“I had both my babies in Buderim, and the staff there were great, but I believe it would be fantastic to have a birthing centre in Noosa,” she said.
“It’s so far to go and the 45 minute drive is quite stressful for a labouring woman. At this special time of a woman’s life she needs to choose and feel comfortable about where to have her baby.”
