Coolum Tennis

Once again, Patron’s Day was a perfect day of excellent tennis at Coolum.
Patron’s Day is an early celebration of Laurie Bruhl’s birthday and this year Laurie turns 91 but he still plays one or two sets most Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The club had 24 players trying to accumulate enough points to win the Laurie Bruhl trophy. Games were played for five periods of 25 minutes with short breaks in between and scores recorded. The winners this year were Henry Plint and Cherie Lau. Unfortunately, this year, there were no juniors entered.
Laurie also donates two fruit trays to raffle and they were won by Annette Adsett and Leon Nguyen. Not only players, but other visitors wished Laurie well. Both Adam Spence and Andrew Ash came, as well as Brad Mulrooney, Lloyd and Jim Cole.
Thanks go to Subway for the catering as well as the players who also brought food.
With school holidays coming up, junior and ladies daytime fixture teams have a break.
If you wish to hire a court during the holidays, please ring Andrew on 0421 391 505 as the courts can get busy. You can also ring if you wish to enrol your child or yourself in a holiday program.
The club welcome players of all ages at Coolum Tennis functions and visitors are welcome to join the social tennis on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7.30am, Sunday from 8am and Wednesday evenings from 7pm.
