Stories of harmony

The Kin Kin Yarn is a storytelling festival that mixes entertainment with stories about living and working in the Noosa biosphere.
The Kin Kin Yarn will be held on 5 October at the Kin Kin Oval and is the first of what the community hopes will become an annual celebration of the importance of the environment.
President of the Kin Kin Community Group and previous Noosa Council candidate Allan Bonsall said the festival is an opportunity to discuss what it means to live and work in a biosphere.
“I’ve lost count of the number of times people have asked me what the biosphere means,” he said.
“The Kin Kin Yarn is not a biosphere show, but we believe it is a great way to show people how easy and how important it is to live in harmony with their environment.”
Noosa Landcare, Noosa Integrated Catchment Association and SEQ Catchments will share their yarns at the festival alongside people who live and work in the region, local poets and artists.
The festival will also feature Metta’s Laughter Clinic, brunch with A Pack of Bards, four local poets, from 9am on the day, and lots of entertainment for the kids.
There will also be wood chopping displays from champion axemen and a country market with local produce, plant sand crafts, plus visitors can enter the Soapbox Challenge with prizes for children and adults.
