Tight tussle in junior touch encounters

By ANITA ANDERSON

Keeping in Touch.
BRIGHT sunshine and mosquitoes were in plentiful supply as Noosa Junior Touch took to the fields again this week. Average Joe’s and GSLC (boys) had a tight tussle with Average Joe’s ahead by a couple of touchdowns on the bell. Tristan, Rueben and Scott played strongly. Sunshine Rebels proved too strong for GSLC (girls). Putting in huge efforts during the game were India, Tyla and Tahli. Inferno accounted for NDSHS 8s with Mikaela, Denyta and Eden playing well. In the matchup between STCC Pansies and NDSHS 8s (mixed), the Pansies came away with the win. Jack, John and Kate produced first-rate games. The final U14/16 game of the day saw NDSHS 9s take on SBSHS. With the score line deadlocked at the siren, the points will be shared this week. Sharlene, Jerry-Lee and Bronte led the way for their respective teams.
In the U12 division Devils came out on top in a close encounter with the Banana Split girls. Ariel, Hannah, Lily and Abbi had outstanding games. Purple Storm never stopped trying against the Saints with Tenay, Leo, Levi and Jaycey putting in mighty efforts. In another drawn result That Cool Team and GSLC put on a great display of touch footy. C-Jai, Samantha and Emma gave stellar performances.
A change of name to one of our U10 teams to the Mexican Amigos saw them back on the winners list this week over the Purple Panthers. Although the Purple Panther girls made a mid game comeback, the boys ran in a couple of late tries to seal the win. Maddie, Dan and Summer played well. Screaming Iguanas had a hard fought win over GSLC (boys) with just one touchdown being the difference in the final score. Ethan, Josh, Riley and Cohen had strong games. In a high scoring match, Blazers finished on top over the Pink Storm with Nico, Bailey, Parker and Evie showing great skill.
Recently Noosa Touch had 11 players represent Sunshine Coast at the Junior State Championships held at the Gold Coast. Congratulations to Caitlin Wark, Luke Robinson, Ali Bakhach, Amelia Jayaraj, Danielle Sealey, Giverny Robinson, Taj Bakhach, Lucy White, Lily Canavan, Jaidyn Jayaraj and Jack Herriman for your outstanding performances at such a high level of our game. Jaidyn and Jack playing for the U12 boys made it all the way through to the grand final, well done boys. Lucy White playing in the U12 girls had a marvellous carnival and has been selected in the Queensland U12 Merit team, a magnificent achievement.
Until the next touchdown…
