Women’s Soccer

AFTER a very successful season, the Noosa Lions women’s team have added to their Minor Premiers title by winning the grand final on Friday night against a very competitive Cooroora team.
Scores were locked at 1-1 at half time after Noosa striker Ursula Hughson netted a good strike late in the half. Cooroora replied quickly with an excellent shot from outside the area.
Hughson found the back of the net again for Noosa early in the second half then was brought down in the box and slotted the penalty away easily. Both sides brought a great defense to the game with both goal keepers making scoring difficult. The final score 3-1.
Noosa have been the team to beat all year after going undefeated for the entire season bar the first game. Along with the league champion trophy Hughson was awarded the league’s highest goal scorer trophy with a massive 51 goals for the season.
