SES sandbags at Bunnings

BUNNINGS Warehouse Noosaville is now a new local sandbag collection point for coastal residents this storm season.
“Bunnings will make its car park a collection point where residents can pick-up pre-filled sand bags from the SES.
Council’s disaster management officer Beth Potter said if flooding was imminent, council would alert residents via local radio, media, council’s Facebook page and website, that the sandbags were available for residents to collect.
As well as Bunnings Warehouse Noosaville on the corner of Eumundi-Noosa Road and Gateway Drive, sandbags may be collected from the SES facilities in Noosa’s hinterland.
“With Get Ready Week kicking off on 10 October, it’s timely for residents to make sure they’re prepared for storm season,” Ms Potter said.
“Take note of sandbag collection points in the event we experience weather that causes flooding, but also make sure homes and businesses are prepared.
“Gutters and downpipes should be clear of leaves so water can drain away quickly and it’s a good idea to trim any trees and overhanging branches close to the house.
“Every household should prepare an emergency kit that includes fresh water, several days’ worth of non-perishable food, a radio, first aid kit, torch, and toiletries as well as any important medications and documents.”
