Police Briefs

LOCAL police are disappointed to report a spike in people driving under the influence on Noosa roads.
Six people will face court charged with drink driving, where police will allege the drivers had blood alcohol readings as high 0.173 per cent.
A further six people tested positive to road-side drug tests and are currently awaiting their secondary test results.
All offences occurred within one week on Noosa roads.
Acting Senior Sergeant Tom Dawson said the increase in people driving while drunk or under the influence of drugs is disappointing, given the launch of road safety campaigns.
“We want people to head the warning,” he said.
“We ask, what do people want for Christmas? Police knocking on their door, telling their family they are in hospital or even worse?”
FAMILY THREATENED
A man who threatened to kill a family and their 10-year-old son at a camping ground in November has been fined $800 in Noosa Magistrates’ Court.
Beau Daniel Cleland Greaves pleaded guilty to one count of public nuisance and one count of obstruct a police officer on Tuesday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Melissa Campbell said Greaves and his friends had been drinking alcohol at their campsite before Greaves threatened to kill other campers on 21 November, 2014, at about 9.30pm.
Greaves had already fled the grounds when the police arrived, but he was later arrested when he was found sleeping at 3.30am on the same night.
Greaves’ defence lawyer said his client had an “alcohol problem” and the only way to “fix it” was specific alcohol counselling.
Magistrate John Hodgins said Greaves behaviour was an example of “ugly drunk” and said he was “absolutely disgusted” with what he did.
“I have a simple message for you; give up the drink,” Magistrate Hodgins said.
“History shows you are a young man, with a good career, earning good money, wasting it.”
Greaves pleaded guilty to both charges and was fined $800. Convictions were recorded for both offences.
