Campaign sets sail

LOCAL sailor and council hopeful Elaine Williams launched her election campaign on Wednesday (13 January) off the shoreline and into the Noosa River.
A keen sailor and a member of the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club sailing committee, Ms Williams said she was looking forward to continuing the hard work of the current Noosa Council and excited to work on issues close to her heart.
“I’m really keen to continue the hard work the current council has done since deamalgamation, but there’s still a lot to be done, and a lot of the outstanding work, particularly the river, are all things I’m really passionate about and have a lot of knowledge about and have been involved with for many years,” she said.
Ms Williams is one of three women fighting for a position in the council elections to be held in March and said she hoped to bring balance to the traditional male leadership, decision-making and problem-solving approaches.
