EUMUNDI Markets will be alive with colour on Saturday 28 February when the Pride Fair comes to town.
The Pride Fair Day is part of the Sunshine Coast Pride Festival that celebrates diversity by bringing together the LGBTIQ community, and their friends and family, in a fun and supportive environment.
Commencing in 2008 as an initiative of the Queensland Aids Council, the festival has grown to a weekend-long event with a variety of activities and entertainment to cater for all ages and interests.
Eumundi Market manager Daniel West said this is the second year Eumundi markets have hosted the Pride Day Fair.
“We’re thrilled to share in such a colourful community event,” he said.
“It’s a day of fun, great music, big laughs and getting together against the backdrop of the Eumundi markets; home of the best artisan retail therapy on the planet.”
The hub of the festivities will be at the Eumundi Amphitheatre and will be hosted by renowned drag queen Monica Fusions, who always adds a splash of colour, pizzazz and fabulousness.
There will be a diverse range of live music on offer, including urban folk, dance/pop and electro funk, and performances from the likes of The Ukulele Sisters, Dykes on Bikes and the Brisbane Lesbian and Gay Pride Choir.
Pride Fair Day will also feature a Pride Trail throughout the markets with stalls on the Trail marked with a rainbow flag.
The family friendly event even has entertainment for the kids with face painting, jumping castles and a merry-go-round.
The 2015 Festival’s theme is Love is Love, which is all about celebrating the beauty of love in all its many forms.
