Amanda went extra mile

THE Peregian kindy is sad to say goodbye to one of their special staff members after 15 years of championing what continues to lie at the very core of the kindy – a child’s right to play.
Amanda Dowie, the multi-talented kindy assistant, honed many skills over the years: Playdough-maker extraordinaire, green-frog relocator, champion hugger, gardener, problem-solver, shoulder to cry on, volcano-maker, photographer and first-aid whizz, to name a few and all in the name of helping children play. Often seen arriving at work before 7am, Amanda set very high standards for herself and really went the extra mile for many families.
“Amanda’s been totally dedicated to the kindy and kindy families over the years,” kindy co-director Lisa Stanley said.
“I’ve had a wonderful 14 years with her and will miss her dearly.”
The kindy held a special farewell morning tea recently to thank Amanda for all the giving, sharing and loving over the years, and to wish her well on her move to Brisbane.
