Andrew makes it three in a row

ANDREW Cornell has celebrated his third season victory in a row with his team taking out the Noosa Tennis Club’s Adult night autumn season in convincing fashion on Thursday night.
The A grade fixtures saw new player Peter Bilton’s team – Brent Peters, Dy Williams, Pat Craigie – get overrun in the semi final by last season’s premiers Chris Warnet team – Matt Nenedic, David Tunnington, Laura Livingston.
In the other semi the minor premiers Tristan McMahon, Andrew Cornell, Lauren Collinge, Dean Jones, had a close nervous victory over the team of Doug Reynolds, Adam Townsend, Aaron Steiner, Quentin McCutchon.
But on the finals night the minor premieres won though in convincing fashion only dropping the one set for the night giving Andrew Cornell his third season victory in a row.
The autumn season at the Noosa Tennis club, saw one of our strongest competition in a while for both Wednesday and Thursday night fixtures.
The night tennis season runs over 14 weeks of matches played all of which are played at the Noosa tennis complex.
The field of 60 players competes in a team format and play one singles and two doubles in their night of tennis.
In the Wednesday competition, at the end of 12 weeks of tennis there were only eight points separating the top two teams.
The team of Geoff Cole, Lachlan Lee, Roger Lucas made it though their semi final match in a close encounter which came down to the last set.
The team of Matt Huurdeman , Mitch Worth, and Marcus Thuler, made it through comfortably to the grand final.
On the night however Geoff Cole’s team rallied well, lead by a strong performance from Roger Lucas winning all three sets, to win the night convincingly by 56 pts to 26pts.
The winner of the MVP (most valuable player ) for the season went to Shane Hunter in his first season.
Noosa Tennis director of tennis David McMahon said they had one of strongest and reliable competitions ever at the club.
“It’s great to see people looking forward and committing to their night of tennis and look forward to another competitive season in the spring,” he said.
