Sign-up for Little Aths

By NICK CALDWELL

LAST season Noosa Little Athletics produced three National Champions and several State Champions. This sporting excellence is a result of both the athletes’ efforts and dedication and the coaches’ commitment and expertise.
After a successful 2014/2015 season, Noosa Little Athletics is looking forward to the upcoming season. The sign-on day for the coming season is Sunday 23 August from 9am to 1pm at the Girraween Sports complex, Eenie Creek Road, Sunshine Beach.
Many athletes come through the ranks from the earliest age groups and progress all the way to state and national competitions and their efforts are recognized at the annual presentation night.
For many of the younger athletes it a very special night as age champions and major awards winners are presented with trophies.
One of the special age groups is the Under-9s as it is the first year athletes can attend the state championships if they qualify through the regional championships.
Two athletes who experienced the joy this pathway provides were Christian Caldwell and Sebastian Hayes. Both boys were also feeling very happy on the awards night as Sebastian managed to pick up the Coaches Award and Christian picked up the Most Improved Athlete Award and Age Champion.
