Distinguished gents take the ride

GENTLEFOLK, start your engines! The annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is happening this Sunday 25 September in Noosa.
Last year, more than 100 riders donned their suits and straddled their vintage bikes to take part in the worldwide ride for men’s health, and this year more than 130 riders have already signed up.
Details of the start location can’t be revealed to help deter non-registered riders from taking part as all riders need to sign an insurance form, but spectators wanting to take in the sight and sounds of the ride can expect to see the progression pass through Hastings Street about 10am.
Ride organiser Cameron MacGowan said anyone with a vintage bike, cafe racer, vintage scooter, side car, old school chopper or modern classic bike can take part, but must register prior to the ride.
The unique ride will see riders wear their most dapper attire from tweed suits to waxed moustaches, silk vests, crisp shirts and everything in between.
Entry to the ride is free, but participants can make a donation to join the worldwide ride for men’s health. Last year, more than $2.3 million was raised for prostate cancer research, and organisers hope to beat the total this year.
To register visit www.gentlemansride.com and search for the Sunshine Coast ride.
