Messy thieves
A EUMUNDI health and wellness centre was broken into on Monday night, with thieves causing damage worth more than what they actually stole.
Thieves broke into the Double Happiness Acupuncture and Wellness Centre late on Monday evening or early on Tuesday morning, damaging the front door and louvres.
The thieves left behind a knife, traces of blood, a chocolate wrapper and chocolate fingerprints, making off with the petty cash and an eftpos machine.
In a Facebook post on the business’s page, Double Happiness said there was “more damage than anything else” and thanked clients for rescheduling their appointments while the forensic unit collected evidence.
Double Happiness is expected to be open for business in the next day and is asking for the eftpos machine to be anonymously returned, as there is a large fee to replace the stolen machine.
Brave home owner
LOCAL police have praised the efforts of a quick-thinking home owner who tackled and restrained a brazen thief who was trying to burgle his home.
When the Tewantin home owner woke to find a man in his home he acted quickly to hold the thief until police arrived.
Noosa Heads Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Steve McReight said the thief had been linked to other home thefts and the home owner did a great job stopping what could have been a crime spree in the local area.
“It was good teamwork,” he said.
“The home owner restrained the would-be thief until police arrived.”
The man has been charged with two counts of trespass and two burglary offences.
